XML Interface
The XML interface supports a standard for
import and export of XML files. This can be used in an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS system (head
office/branch) and also for import and export of non-MICROS systems.
The following configurations are necessary
for the functioning of the XML interfaces integrated into MICROS Retail OSCAR POS:
- Installation
of program "FglFtpXCtrl.ocx "
The OCX (OLE Control Extension) "FglFtpXCtrl.ocx " should be
installed. This program can be found in the "..\bin" directory
and is installed with "oscar installOCX".
- Programming
of a scheduler
Start MICROS Retail OSCAR POS in single-user mode, go to program System -> User
interface -> Application and program a new application of type Scheduler. Assign a program name, e.g.
"XMLScheduler". The XML scheduler gets Orders
from the XML inspector if XML import files are to be imported into
directory "FILE IMPORT".
- Programming
of a processing unit of type Scheduler
Go to program System -> Configuration -> Installation
and find the System unit on to which the XML
interface is to be installed. Go to program Process
unit and program a new processing unit of type Client. Enter the same
name as defined under Item 2 for the application Scheduler (XML scheduler)
under Program name. The option Graphic should only be set for testing and
should be deactivated later.
- Update
XML parameters
Go to program Application -> XML -> Parameter and link the
appropriate XML parameters to the processing unit for the scheduler in
field XML-Process
unit. Enter a value for the start interval of the XML inspector in
field "XML Polltime".
- Programming
of a processing unit for the XML inspector
Go to program System -> Configuration ->
Installation and find the System unit on to which the XML Interface is to
be installed. Go to update program Process unit
and program a new processing unit of type Client. Enter the name
"LstXMLInspector " in field Program name. The option Graphic
must be activated for this processing unit. In accordance with the value entered
in field XML Polltime in program XML Parameter the XML inspector will
monitor directory "FILE IMPORT" for files which are to be
imported. If an XML import file is found, the XML inspector prepares an Order (scheduler position) for the XML Scheduler.
The XML import file is then moved to directory XML Import and is then
moved to directory XML IMPORT OSC for final import into the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
database. The file is moved to sub-directory "PROCESSED" and is
re-named after successful data import.
lf XSLT file is also stated in program Application -> XML -> XML Import Tables the XML import file will be
transformed accordingly.
- Directories for XML import and export
Go to program Application -> Organisation -> Branch -> Move path, and enter all directory paths which
are required by the XML interface.
Directories for XML Import and export:
- FILE
IMPORT = Defines the directory in which the
files sent by an external system for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS XML import are stored.
This directory is monitored permanently by the XML inspector. Orders are sent to the XML scheduler at defined
intervals for existing XML files and this then initiates start of data import.
- FILE
EXPORT = Defines the directory in which MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
POS presents files for export.
- FILE
REJECT = Defines the directory in which files
are exported if they cannot be linked during data import by XML Inspector
in directory "FILE IMPORT".
- XML
IMPORT = The files from directory FILE IMPORT
are copied into this directory and there they await the start of the
import operation. These files are copied into sub-directory
"PROCESSED" after successful formatting and transformation.
- XML
IMPORT MAN = Defines the directory in which
the XML files awaiting manual import confirmation are stored after they
have been identified by the XML inspector. Data of XML files which have
had to be confirmed manually must be imported via program Application
-> XML -> XML manual confirmation.
- XML
IMPORT OSC = The final XML files (transformed
and formatted on the basis of the XSLT file) for import into MICROS Retail OSCAR POS are
stored in this directory. These files are copied into sub-directory
"PROCESSED" after successful import.
- XML
STYLESHEET = Defines the directory in which
XSL files (Stylesheet) are stored.
- XML
EXPORT OSC = Defines the directory in which
the XML files exported from the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application are stored. The
exported XML files are copied into directory XML Export after successful
transformation (XSLT file in directory Stylesheet) and a copy of these
files is copied into sub-directory "PROCESSED" and re-named
(old****.xml).
- XML EXPORT = Defines the directory in which the final XML files for export
are stored. These files are copied into directory FILE EXPORT so that they
are available for transfer to the external system. A copy of this file is
copied into sub-directory "PROCESSED" after successful export.
Note:
Directories XML IMPORT, XML EXPORT, IMPORT OSC, XML EXPORT and XML IMPORT MAN
should also have a sub-directory named "PROCESSED". The files are
copied into these sub-directories and are re-named after successful processing.
