Chapter 36: Printing the Retail Order Cross Reference Report (POCR)

Purpose: Use this menu option to print the Retail Order Cross Reference Report. This report displays the contents of the Order Cross Reference file.

You can use an external order number to associate an order with an order database existing outside of CWDirect. For example, you might take orders at your retail outlets, authorize a third party to take orders for you, or provide order entry service for someone else. You can process these orders through a variety of media, such as a phone interface, EDI, or tape.

Order number override: If the Allow Order Number Override in Phone Interface (G54) system control value is set to Y, the system uses the retail transaction as the order number when it creates the order. However, if this system control value is set to N or is blank, or if the number passed as the retail transaction number is already assigned to an order, the system selects the next available order number from the Number Assignment file. In any case, the system creates an order cross reference record.

Note: In the case of Spiegel orders, the system assigns a cross reference number to each Spiegel order you process in CWDirect; this is because Spiegel uses a five-position number, and CWDirect uses an eight position number. The system assigns a cross-reference number to Spiegel orders. For more information on the JC Penney and Spiegel interfaces, see Chapter 43: Overview of the JC Penney Interface and Chapter 47: Overview of the Spiegel Interface.
