6 Monitoring Elastic Charging Engine

This chapter describes the Oracle Communications Elastic Charging Engine monitoring metrics provided by Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications.

Monitoring Elastic Charging Engine Metrics

Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications enables monitoring Oracle Communications Elastic Charging Engine targets using Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. You can monitor the following Elastic Charging Engine Metrics:

You must install and configure the Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications plug-in before monitoring Elastic Charging Engine. See the following chapters for information about setting up Oracle Communications application monitoring with Enterprise Manager Cloud Control:

See "About Conditions that Trigger Notifications" for an explanation of fields and tables included below.

Monitoring Configuration Attributes

Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications provides default thresholds for critical collection items and metrics. You must configure thresholds for collection items and metrics with default warning or critical thresholds listed as undefined for alert generation. You can also customize the default values for monitored attributes to better suit your environment.

See "Configuring Metric Monitoring Thresholds and Alerts" for information on configuring thresholds.

Elastic Charging Engine Node Metrics

This section describes metrics collected for Elastic Charging Engine client nodes.

Metric: Response

All Elastic Charging Engine targets have a Response Status collection item that provides target connection status. The Response Status is either up or down.

The management agent checks the Response Status at a default interval of every minute. Enterprise Manager Cloud Control administration console displays a message indicating whether the Elastic Charging Engine node is either up or down. Table 6-1 describes the condition that triggers an alert.

Metric: Performance

The Performance metric monitors event processing performance in Elastic Charging Engine. Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications generates alerts when processing parameters exceed the warning and critical thresholds listed in Table 6-2.

Elastic Charging Engine Cluster Metrics

This section describes metrics collected for Elastic Charging Engine clusters.

Metric: Response

All Elastic Charging Engine clusters have a Response Status collection item that provides target connection status. The Response Status is either up or down.

The management agent checks the Response Status at a default interval of every minute. Enterprise Manager Cloud Control administration console displays a message indicating whether the Elastic Charging Engine node is either up or down. Table 6-3 describes the condition triggering an alert.

Additional Coherence Cluster Metrics

The number of Coherence cluster metrics monitored by Enterprise Manager Cloud Control is too great to be included here. See the chapter on monitoring a Coherence cluster in Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Getting Started with Oracle Fusion Middleware Management for more information on monitoring the Coherence cluster on which Elastic Charging Engine runs.
