7 Monitoring Network Charging and Control

This chapter describes the Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control monitoring collection items and metrics provided by Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications.

Monitoring Network Charging and Control Metrics

Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications enables monitoring Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control targets using Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. You can monitor Service Management Systems, Voucher and Wallet Servers, and Service Logic Controllers.

You can monitor the following Network Charging and Control collection items and metrics:

You must install and configure the Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications plug-in before monitoring Network Charging and Control. See the following chapters for information about setting up Oracle Communications application monitoring with Enterprise Manager Cloud Control:

See "About Conditions that Trigger Notifications" for an explanation of fields and tables included below.

Monitoring Configuration Attributes

Application Management Pack for Oracle Communications provides default thresholds for critical collection items and metrics. You must configure thresholds for collection items and metrics with default warning or critical thresholds listed as "Not Defined" for alert generation. You can also customize the default values for monitored attributes to better suit your environment.

See "Configuring Metric Monitoring Thresholds and Alerts" for information on configuring thresholds.

Service Manager System Collection Items

This section describes collection items collected for Network Charging and Control Service Manager System nodes.

CollectionItem: Response

Service Manager System targets have a Response Status collection item that provides target connection status. The Response Status is either up or down.

The management agent checks the Response Status at a default interval of every minute. Enterprise Manager Cloud Control administration console displays a message indicating whether the Service Manager System node is either up or down. Table 7-1 describes the condition that triggers an alert.

CollectionItem: PORTS_IN_CLOSE_WAIT

The PORTS_IN_CLOSE_WAIT collection item generates an alert when the management agent detects two occurrences of a port in CLOSE_WAIT state. Table 7-2 describes the condition that triggers an alert.

CollectionItem: Replication Throughput

The Replication Throughput collection item monitors the replication throughput at a default interval of every 5 minutes. Table 7-3 describes the condition that triggers an alert.

Voucher and Wallet Server Collection Items

This section describes collection items collected for Voucher and Wallet Server nodes.

CollectionItem: Response

Voucher and Wallet targets have a Response Status collection item that provides target connection status. The Response Status is either up or down.

The management agent checks the Response Status at a default interval of every minute. Enterprise Manager Cloud Control administration console displays a message indicating whether the Network Charging and Control node is either up or down. Table 7-4 describes the condition that triggers an alert.

CollectionItem: SLEE_AND_CAPS

The SLEE_AND_CAPS collection item collects the following Service Logic Execution Environment (SLEE) statistics for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control monitoring at a default interval of every 5 minutes:

  • SLEE Dialogues Free

  • SLEE Events Free

  • SLEE Calls Free

  • CAPS in Last Minute

There are no conditions for this collection item.

Service Logic Controller Collection Items and Metrics

This section describes collection items and metrics collected for Service Logic Controller nodes.

CollectionItem: Response

Service Logic Controller targets have a Response Status collection item that provides target connection status. The Response Status is either up or down.

The management agent checks the Response Status at a default interval of every minute. Enterprise Manager Cloud Control administration console displays a message indicating whether the Service Logic Controller node is either up or down. Table 7-6 describes the condition that triggers an alert.
