Get started with shipping

Set up shipping so that sales orders and item fulfillments can use a shipping method with the appropriate carrier, carrier account, service level, rate, and accounting information. QuickStart supports custom fixed-rate methods and integrated ShipStation API methods that obtain rates and generate labels from shipment and package details.

For a custom carrier, create the records in this order:

  1. Create a shipping carrier.
  2. Create a shipping carrier account.
  3. Create a shipping carrier service level.
  4. Create a shipping method.
  5. Create a package type if you ship physical packages.

For integrated rates and labels, first register with ShipStation API, add carrier accounts in its portal, and select Refresh integrated carriers in QuickStart. Integrated carriers, accounts, and service levels are synchronized and cannot be edited as custom records.
