Fulfillments
Use Menu > Products and services > Fulfillments to ship eligible inventory from submitted sales orders and review the resulting item-fulfillment records. Use Orders to fulfill to start fulfillment and Item fulfillments to review created records. The workflow records fulfilled quantities and locations, package and shipping information, inventory and accounting impact, generated documents, and customer email when applicable.
Before you begin
You need permission to view sales orders and create or update item fulfillments. You also need a submitted sales order with an active inventory item, a fulfillment location, and a quantity available to fulfill. If the item has no available quantity, create an inventory adjustment or receive a purchase order before fulfilling it. You can create a sales order from Orders to fulfill if one does not exist.
Fulfill a sales order
- Open Menu > Products and services > Fulfillments.
- Select Orders to fulfill.
- Find the sales order. You can search by sales order or filter by expected ship date, promised ship date, customer, fulfillment location, or shipping carrier.
- Open the row actions menu and select Fulfill.
- Confirm the Date, Location, customer, source sales order, and shipping information.
- In Items, review the Fulfilled quantity for each line. Enter only the quantity being shipped now.
- If the shipment uses packages, add them in Fulfillment packages and enter the package type, weight, and tracking details that apply.
- Select Create item fulfillment.
The item fulfillment appears in Fulfillments > Item fulfillments. A partially fulfilled sales order remains in Orders to fulfill until its remaining fulfillable quantity is shipped or the order is closed.
For an inventory item, fulfillment credits the item’s inventory asset account and debits its cost of goods sold account for the fulfilled inventory cost. Open Accounting on the fulfillment to review the posting. The customer revenue posting is created by the invoice, not by the item fulfillment.
You can select eligible rows in Orders to fulfill and use Fulfill selected sales orders for a bulk fulfillment. Review the completion message because ineligible orders can be skipped.
