Creating a Custom Approval Chain

This step shows you how to create your own custom approval chain for Engineering Change Order. For more information, see Define Custom Approval Chain in Approval Routing Fields.

To create a custom approval chain

  1. In the Define Approval Routing section, click Add Approver and select the Approver Type and Approver. Repeat this step to add more approvers.

    If you're using the Approval Rule page, you will see the Approval Routing section.

    Note:

    By default, the employee’s supervisor is the first approver. Click the Delete icon to remove the supervisor from the approval chain or add them back elsewhere in the sequence.

  2. Skip the Record Locking and Reapproval Settings section.

    If you're using the Approval Rule Assistant, click Next > and skip the Record Locking and Reapproval Settings section.

  3. Before you save the record, review the details of your approval rule.

    • If you're using the Approval Rule Assistant, click < Back to go back to previous pages and make changes as needed.

      When you're done, click Finish.

    • If you're using the Approval Rule page, go back to previous sections and make changes as needed.

      When you're done, click Save.
