Engineering Change Order
The Engineering Change Order feature is included in the Supply Chain Management SuiteApp starting version 4.0. For more information, see Installing the Supply Chain Management SuiteApp.
The Engineering Change Order feature lets you create engineering change order (ECO) records. These records track changes to your Bills of Materials (BOMs) and allow you to approve those changes.
-
With the ECO record, you can list the items and BOMs to update and say why you're making the change.
-
With the SuiteApprovals workflow, you set up approval rules for your ECO records.
-
The system evaluates each ECO record and sends it for approval based on the applicable rule.
-
After approval, you can apply changes from the ECO record automatically or manually, and the system updates the affected records.
-
You can track item and BOM revisions with ECO lists and implementation logs.
Make sure you're familiar with the following concepts before you turn on Engineering Change Order:
-
Advanced Bill of Materials – List how much raw materials, assemblies, sub-components, and parts you need to make a product at one or more facilities. After your administrator enables the Advanced Bill of Materials feature, the Advanced BOM replaces the Assembly/Bill of Materials record. For more information, see Advanced Bill of Materials.
-
Approval Routing – When you use approval routing, transactions that are entered are not processed until they are approved.
Approval routing gives people in charge the ability to reject transactions if they don't want them to go through. For more information, see Approval Routing.
Availability
The Engineering Change Order feature is available in the Supply Chain Management SuiteApp. You can also contact your NetSuite account manager to get access to this SuiteApp. For information about this SuiteApp, see Supply Chain Management SuiteApp.
Limitations

A User Event (UE) script threshold affects how successfully ECO records load. ECO records load successfully if your account has no more than 80,000–90,000 active assembly and inventory items per subsidiary.
-
SOAP web services and CSV import aren't currently supported with this feature.
-
The feature doesn't support Legacy BOM. For more information, see Enabling Advanced BOM.
