Using NetSuite Electronic Business in NetSuite Sandbox

You can use NSEB in NetSuite Sandbox to test exchanging documents with tax authorities. Your NetSuite Sandbox account connects to the test environments of OBN, Avalara, and tax authorities. To connect your NetSuite Sandbox account with the test-environment of OBN, Avalara & Tax authorities you should perform the following steps:

  1. OBN Registration: You must register your NetSuite sandbox subsidiary with the OBN trading partner account. For more information see, Register with Oracle Business Network in your NetSuite Sandbox. Additionally, to use Avalara for e-invoicing, you will need to provision your NetSuite sandbox to the corresponding Avalara (sandbox) company.

  2. Avalara Provisioning in Sandbox: To provision Avalara in the sandbox account, you must first complete Avalara provisioning in the production account. If you have completed Avalara provisioning in production account and linked it to the sandbox account, the Avalara details (such as Company ID, Provisioning ID, Tenant ID, and Organization ID) will automatically appear on the Avalara provisioning screens in sandbox. In this case, you don't need to take any further action.

If you have only partially completed or not started Avalara Provisioning in production account, only some or none of the Avalara details will appear on the sandbox screen. In this case, you must first complete Avalara Provisioning in production account. When complete, you can click Provision in the sandbox account, and the system will update all details accordingly. If you have not yet created a company in sandbox, you can select the subsidiary and proceed to create the company.

  3. Avalara Company Creation in Sandbox: The Avalara manager can view the details of the companies created in the Avalara Company Creation screen. You can create an Avalara company if it is not created already. You generate these companies when you link OBN and Avalara in the sandbox with their corresponding production accounts.

  4. Mandate Activation: Mandate activation of your company in Avalara’s sandbox account enables NetSuite Sandbox to send or receive documents in test environment of the tax authorities.

  5. Daily Usage: This step validates the generated e-document and further builds/ customizes solutions against the tax authority APIs. It sends e-documents to tax authority's test environment using Avalara for E-Invoicing through Avalara sandbox. To use SuiteProcurement for test document exchange with Oracle Business Network trading partners like Staples etc.

In an event of sandbox refresh, you must create new transactions to validate generation or certification instead of using transactions which got copied from the production account.

Note:

After using NSEB in NetSuite Sandbox for testing, you can proceed to perform the company creation, mandate activation and daily usage in your NetSuite production account. The company creation and mandate activation in sandbox does not affect your production account.
