Brazilian Nexus in Accounts With SuiteTax (Brazilian Hub SuiteApp)

NetSuite uses the term nexus to describe a tax jurisdiction or geographic area where you do business. A nexus has its own tax regulations.

Nexuses are part of the NetSuite Advanced Taxes feature, required for NetSuite OneWorld. You must associate each subsidiary with at least one nexus. To ensure that NetSuite calculates the Brazilian taxes for your Brazilian subsidiaries, you must have a Brazilian nexus record on your account.

For more information about the nexuses in SuiteTax, see Understanding Nexuses in SuiteTax. For more information about setting up the nexus record, see Setting Up Nexuses in SuiteTax.

Setting Up a Brazilian Nexus in Accounts With SuiteTax

Set up the Brazilian nexus record as described in this topic.

To set up a Brazilian nexus in an account with SuiteTax:

  1. Go to Setup > Tax > Nexuses.

  2. Review the records list and verify if a Brazilian nexus record is listed.

    • If a Brazilian nexus is listed, do the following:

      • Next to the Brazilian nexus, click Edit.

      • In the Description field, replace the existing description with BRHub - Cálculo Impostos Brasil.

      • Click Save.

    • If no Brazilian nexus is listed, do the following:

      • Go to Customization > Scripting > Script Deployments.

      • Next to the Carga Nexus (Script ID customscripto2s_carga_nexus) script deployment record, click Edit.

        Important:

Do not edit any information on the script deployment record.

      • From the Save dropdown list, click Save and execute.

  3. Assign the tax registration to a Brazilian subsidiary.

    • Go to Setup > Company > Classifications > Subsidiaries.

    • Next to the Brazilian subsidiary record, click Edit.

    • Click the Tax Registrations subtab.

    • In the Country column, select Brazil.

When you select the country, the Nexus column automatically displays the BRHub - Cálculo Impostos Brasil option. If a tax agency is associated with the nexus record, the Tax Agency column is also populated with the tax agency.

    • If no tax agency appears in the Tax Agency column, review the nexus record and verify if there is a tax agency set.

For more information about nexuses and tax agencies, see Setting Up Nexuses in SuiteTax and Setting Up Tax Agencies as Vendors.

    • In the Tax Engine column, select BRHub - Engine Tax.

    • In the Effective From column, select a date from which the nexus is in effect for the subsidiary.

    • Click Add.

    • Click Save.

    • Repeat the previous steps for all the Brazilian subsidiary records on your account.
