Agents Overview

Note:

Some agent capabilities are only available in NetSuite Next. NetSuite Next is being made available to customers in phases, so these features may not yet be available in your account. You'll receive in-app notifications when your account is eligible for NetSuite Next.

Agents in NetSuite are capabilities that help you find information, analyze data, and complete work in supported NetSuite workflows. Some agents answer questions or find business data. Other agents help with a task in a specific feature area, such as reviewing a document, analyzing metrics, or guiding a workflow.

Agents use information from your request and the NetSuite data available to your role to generate a response. Agents can't access records, reports, pages, or actions that your role can't access. Responses can include text, links, record information, status updates, or other information that helps you continue your task.

Agents are available through Ask Oracle and through specific NetSuite pages or workflows. The agents and actions available to you depend on your account setup, enabled features, installed SuiteApps, permissions, and the page you are using.

AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions. Review agent responses before you use them. Agents don't replace NetSuite records, reports, approval workflows, or your review of results.

Agentic Features

NetSuite includes several types of agent capabilities:

  • Ask Oracle capabilities - Ask Oracle supports broad requests, such as finding records, retrieving help content, and working with business data. In some cases, these capabilities work within Ask Oracle instead of appearing as separate agents that you choose.

  • NetSuite agents - NetSuite agents support specific product areas or workflows. A NetSuite agent may be available from a page, a feature-specific entry point, or Ask Oracle. Some NetSuite agents are contextual, so Ask Oracle may guide you to the page where the task should continue.

Some agents support broad questions across NetSuite. Other agents focus on a narrow workflow. For example, an agent may help with a specific record type, business metric, document, or transaction process.

Using Agents

You can use an agent from Ask Oracle or from a related NetSuite page. The available ways to start an agent depend on the agent type and your account setup.

Using an Agent from Ask Oracle

Use Ask Oracle when you want to ask a question in natural language or start an available agent by name.

To use an agent from Ask Oracle:

  1. Open Ask Oracle.

  2. Enter @, and then select the agent from the list.

  3. Enter your question or request.

  4. Review the response.

  5. If Ask Oracle provides a link or button to continue to a NetSuite page, click it and complete the task on that page.

Some agents do not require an @ mention. Ask Oracle may use the appropriate capability based on your request, the page you are viewing, and the capabilities that are available to your role.

Using an Agent from a Page or Workflow

Some agents are available only from a specific NetSuite page or workflow. These contextual agents use the page or workflow to understand what you are trying to do.

For example, a page may include a button, link, panel, or other entry point for an agent. If Ask Oracle sends you to another page, open that page and continue the task there. Completing the task on the related page can provide the agent with the context and controls that it needs.

Tips and Troubleshooting

See the following information for issues you may experience when using agents:

  • The agent is not available - Check with your NetSuite administrator whether the required feature or account customization is enabled. Verify that you have the required role permissions.

  • You cannot find the agent in Ask Oracle - Enter @ and confirm that you are selecting the correct agent name. Some contextual agents may not be available from Ask Oracle. Open the related NetSuite page or workflow and look for the agent entry point there.

  • The response is incomplete or not relevant - Add details to your request, such as the record type, date range, subsidiary, customer, or metric that you want to use. If you are working with a report or list, try applying filters or reducing the amount of data.

  • The agent returns an error or cannot complete the request - Check whether you have access to the related records, reports, pages, and actions. If the request uses a large amount of data, try a shorter time period, fewer records, or more specific filters.

  • The output includes unexpected information - Review the source records, reports, and pages in NetSuite before you use the output. AI-generated responses can vary and may not include all available context.
