Selling and Fulfilling Consigned Inventory

On sales orders, you can add a consigned item that you sell to your customer. When you create the item fulfillments, you can assign the appropriate inventory status to consigned or non-consigned quantities of the item. You can also use cash sales or standalone invoices to track sold consigned items and specify consigned quantities using appropriate inventory statuses.

When you generate fulfillments for transfer orders and vendor returns, you can also specify the consigned item quantities that you want to fulfill. Based on the item lines of the associated transaction, you can assign or choose a different consigned status for consigned quantities. If the associated transaction contains only non-consigned quantities of an item, you can assign regular inventory statuses only. To create fulfillments, see Fulfilling Orders.

Note the following guidelines for item fulfillments with consigned inventory:

For any sold or consumed consigned quantities from cash sales, standalone invoices, or fulfilled sales orders, NetSuite automatically transfers ownership to your organization. On associated purchase orders, you can view the fulfilled and sold quantities in the Consignment Consumed column of consigned item lines. If you want to generate a consignment consumption report for your vendors, see Generating Consignment Consumption Reports. For more information, see Creating Purchase Orders for Consigned Items.
