If you've got finance or HR tasks, see Finance or HR Manager Onboarding.
If you're a people manager, see People Manager Onboarding.
Creating a Brand
A brand allows you to change settings for multiple locations in one place.
Any locations you create belong to a brand and inherit its settings. If you change brand settings, they’ll affect your location, unless you’ve overridden location configurations. Most of the time, you’ll only have one brand.
To create a Brand, go to Setup > Brands then follow the prompts.
For more information about creating a brand, see Creating a New Brand.
To learn more about Brands, see Configuring Brands.
Creating a Location
A location is a single place where employees get assigned shifts.
A venue or site where employees are scheduled is typically one location, although there may be cases where multiple locations belong to a venue or site.
For example, a store might have multiple departments which might require multiple schedule locations as each department is scheduled separately. Another example is a restaurant that might group employees into two schedules such as front of house and back of house.
Employees can work at more than one location.
To create a location, go to Setup > Location, then follow the prompts.
For more information, see the following topics:
Setting Up Jobs
Jobs define what roles employees do during their shifts, and you can run reports based on different jobs.
When you create a schedule or shift, you can assign a specific job to it. Only employees who can do that job will show up for that shift. For example, if there’s a job called Management, only management staff will appear.
You’ll assign jobs to each employee and location you create. As you add jobs, ensure they're linked to the right locations. To do this, go Workforce Management > Setup > Jobs. Then select the locations where each job is available.
Assign accurate jobs to each location. For example, if you have two locations and only one offers deliveries, you only need to assign the delivery job where it makes sense.
To learn more, see Jobs.
Setting Up Wages
There are three different kinds of wages you can set up in WFM. A combination of all three can be set up, depending on what is best for you. Wage Agreements can be set up right away, however, setting up Hourly & Salary employees and assigning wage agreements can not be set up until employees are added.
You can set up three types of wages in WFM, and you can use any mix that works for you.
You can set up Wage Agreements right away. When setting up Hourly or Salary wage types, you must add employees first.
-
Hourly – This wage type the basic level in WFM. Each employee gets their own hourly rate, which calculates for every hour they work.
Note:Hourly wages don't calculate overtime or penalty rates. To calculate these, set up Wage Agreements.
-
Salary – Employees on salary have their wage spread evenly over the hours they work each week. Their pay stays the same every week.
-
Wage Agreements – Compared to the hourly wage type, wage agreements offer more flexible and added benefits. You can use it to:
-
Bulk update wages when changes occur
-
Set custom overtime and penalty conditions
-
Apply different rates for different jobs worked
-
Calculate hourly or weekly shift allowances
-
To manage wage types:
-
For hourly and salary employees, go to their profiles. For more information, see Managing Wages for WFM Employees.
-
For wage agreements, in Workforce Management, go to Setup > Wage > Agreements.
After you’ve set up Wage Agreements, you can add them to employees in the same area. For the calculation type, select Classification. Then, select the employee’s classification level.
Adding Employees
Now you can add employees and start entering their schedules.
To add an employee, go to Setup > Employees > List. For more information, see Adding New WFM Employees.
To learn about schedules, see Scheduling in Workforce Management.
Here are a few other things you might want to do to help with scheduling:
-
Get employees to log in and set their availability
-
Set managers up with the right access so they can approve availability
For more information, see WFM Employee Availability.
