Setting Up Nexuses in SuiteTax Engine
To ensure you get the right tax jurisdiction and rate on transactions, link your subsidiaries to the right nexuses. Each tax jurisdiction needs its own nexus record.
To ensure the provisioning for the Canada province nexus works, set the Canada nexus as the parent when you create a province nexus.
Setting Up the Puerto Rico and Guam Nexuses
For these US territories, first create a nexus with "United States" in the Country field and "Puerto Rico" or "Guam" in the State field. For more information about creating nexuses, see Setting Up Nexuses in SuiteTax. For Guam, create it as a new state/province/county with "United States" as the country (see instructions below).
Ensure that you don't select these territories in the Country field. This is needed for the correct tax calculation.
To create the Guam State/Province/County:
-
Go to Setup > Company > States/Provincies/Counties > New.
-
In the Country field, select "United States".
-
In the Full Name field, enter "Guam".
-
In the Short Name field, enter "GU" for Guam.
Then, assign these nexuses to the related subsidiaries. For more information, see Assigning Tax Registrations to a Subsidiary in SuiteTax.
