Automatic Tax Records Provisioning for the United States
By selecting the SuiteTax Engine as the tax engine for your subsidiary with a US nexus, the NetSuite creates the following tax records to generate tax codes:
-
tax agency
-
accounts which to post tax on sales and purchase transactions
-
tax types
-
State Tax
-
County Tax
-
City Tax
-
District Tax
-
Not Liable
For each tax type, further differentiation is required for sales and use tax (with the exception of the Not Liable tax type).
-
-
Tax codes – all tax codes applicable for the selected nexus (that is all state, county, city and district taxes).
-
Tax groups – group of tax codes applicable to a certain area. Including the information about ZIP+4 codes for the respective areas. For more information, see Setting Up Tax Groups in SuiteTax Engine
Do not delete or inactivate system generated tax accounts, as they will be created again during the monthly update. You can either rename the accounts according to your needs or create a new account and assign it to your related tax types.
For OneWorld accounts, the tax record provisioning is executed automatically after you assign SuiteTax to the subsidiary's registration. For single instance accounts, you must manually execute the provisioning.
To execute tax record provisioning manually for single instance edition accounts :
-
Go to Setup > SuiteTax Engine > Tax Engine Data Provisioning.
-
Check the box of the nexus which you want to create tax codes.
-
Click Run Data Provisioning.
