Templates and Areas

The structure of your website pages is controlled by templates. Templates contain HTML markup and place holders for data and scripts. Site Management Tools (SMT) uses areas defined within the templates to determine the locations on a page where you can add and manage website content. This enables you to quickly add content and achieve a variety of page layouts without the need for creating custom page templates. However, if the default page layouts do not fully meet your needs, you can customize the modules to create your own areas or make changes to the existing areas. For example, you may want to change the scope of an existing area to Page Type or to add a new All Pages area across all shopping pages.
