Customizing Report Date Range Filters
Each report has a date selector in its footer that shows the date range or accounting period range for the displayed data. You can use this field to change the report's date range and see different data. For more information, see Choosing a Date or Period Range for a Report.

The default date range filter appears on the Filters page of the Report Builder (or Financial Report Builder).

Changing the Default Date Range Filter
To change the default date range filter for a report, click the edit icon and complete the popup. You can click Preview to see results for the new date range, but the change doesn't apply to your customized report until you save it. The default date range for the standard report never changes. Only your customized version is updated.

Adding a Date Range Filter
In addition to changing an existing date range filter, you also can add a new one by clicking a date field in the Add Fields pane. In the popup, select filter language, such as “between” or “before”, and then choose a date range.
For example, the following date range filter for a customized Sales by Customer Report returns current monthly sales results for long-time customers:

Updating of Custom Date Range Filters
Custom report date range filters that use BETWEEN and a relative date are calculated dynamically based on the current date when you run the report. This automatic updating overwrites the values you selected when you first customized the report. However, when you show the custom date range filter in the report footer and the user selects refresh, the operator changes to CUSTOM, and the values update to what you originally selected.
When you define a custom date range filter such as “this week”, the report data filters by the dates in the From and To fields. The report keeps using those dates over time. For example, if you set the following filter for “this week”, the report returns the current week's data until 8/2/2014. After that date, you need to update the filter to the following week's dates. Otherwise, the report continues to show results for 7/27/14-8/2/14.

If you filter a report for a specific date or period range, results may differ for users in other time zones. Reports follow the time zone preferences you set at Setup > Company > Preferences > General Preferences or Home > Set Preferences when calculating report date fields with timestamps. Report results for these fields use company or user time zone, not system time zone.
