Getting Started Checklist

Perform the tasks in this checklist to set up Capital, Financials, Projects, and Workforce.

To set up Strategic Modeling, see Getting Started Checklist for Strategic Modeling in Administering Planning.

  1. Create an application. See Creating an Application.

  2. If your application is multicurrency, use the Dimension Editor to add dimension members for each currency. See Administering Planning.

  3. Review the supported scenarios for integration to determine which options to enable and any sequence required. See Integration Scenarios and Workflow.

  4. Enable features.

You can add up to three custom dimensions to each module.

    See:

While you are enabling features, the application is put in maintenance mode and only administrators can use the application. If any metadata changes are detected, the database is refreshed before features are enabled. If any validation errors are detected, they are displayed; you must resolve these errors before features can be enabled.

  5. Configure and run any required rules. See:

    Note:

Because entities are common across all modules, you can simultaneously import all Entity members.

  6. After you configure, and whenever you make configuration changes or import metadata, refresh the database. Click Application Application icon, then Configure Configure icon, and then from the Actions menu, select Refresh Database, then Create, and then Refresh Database.

  7. Set required user variables. See Setting User Variables.

  8. Import data. See Importing Data.
  9. Create the required user and group accounts and grant permissions. See Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators.

  10. Set security for rules and groovy templates.
    1. From the Home page, click Rules, then Filter, and then select a cube and artifact type.
    2. Next to the rule or template, click Permission and then click Assign Permission.
    3. In Assign Permission, click Permissions, and then assign permissions.

See Administering Rules Security for more information.

For example, for Projects and Workforce, set security for groovy templates. Groovy templates are used for Add Project and Delete Project in Projects and for Add Requisition and Change Requisition in Workforce, along with others. See Workforce Rules for a list of Groovy templates used in Workforce.

For more information about working with Groovy rules, see Using Groovy Rules.

  11. Design and work with reports. See:
  12. Make the application available to planners. From the Home page, click Application Application icon, and then Settings Settings icon. In System Settings, change Enable Use of the Application for to All Users.

  13. To define the approval process, define the approval units and promotional paths for approving plans in your organization. See Managing Approvals.

  14. If required, perform the data mapping required for integration. See Pushing Data to Integrate Business Processes.

Perform follow-up tasks as needed. See Followup Administrative Tasks.
