Using Jobs to Import and Export Data Between EPM Planning Projects and Project Management

When you enable integration between Projects and Project Management, job types are available for administrators that offer one-click automation and simplify the integration:

Each job type is prepopulated with the information from Data Integration for the integrations you set up when you enabled Project Management Cloud Integration. To limit the amount of data sent to Project Management, start and end periods are populated based on the data available in EPM Planning Projects.

Using jobs simplifies the integration process:

  • You don't need to use Data Integration to run multiple integrations. You can launch jobs directly in the EPM Planning Projects module.

  • There are fewer steps because additional required rules, such as Refresh Database and Calculate Imported Projects, are included in the job.
  • You can schedule the jobs to run at convenient times and automate the process.

Only administrators can run and schedule jobs. Planners can still use the Data Integration integrations to import and export data. For instructions for planners to perform these integration tasks, see Integrating EPM Planning Projects With Project Management in Working with Planning Modules.
