Effort Calculation Rule and Display Formatting
You now have two methods to calculate the actual effort of learner progress: Final Attempt and Sum of All Attempts.
-
Final Attempt: The actual effort is how long it took the learner to complete their final attempt, whether they passed or failed it.
-
Sum of All Attempts: The actual effort is the total time it took the learner to complete all attempts, including the final attempt, whether they passed or failed them.
These options are available for any content type configured for multiple attempts, such as online courses, assessments, and observer checklists. Self-assess checklists are excluded because they always allow only one attempt.

Also, how the catalog and enrollment details pages show the expected and actual effort was improved. Time reporting is now more intuitive and accurate, with all effort for any learning type shown in a clear hours and minutes format, such as 1h 30m, instead of decimal hours, such as 0.52h.
Actual Effort on an Enrollment Details Page
This feature ensures more accurate tracking of learner effort when they have multiple attempts.
Steps to Enable
You need to enable self-paced learning to use this feature.
Tips And Considerations
-
What happens when I update the actual effort calculation method for learning with assigned learners?
-
How's the actual effort calculated for learning content types with no attempts?
- For Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (BI) reports showing expected and actual efforts, report creators are responsible for the formatting. Check that the reports reflect the change from decimal formatting to hours and minutes. Actual effort values are automatically populated during assignment status times and updates, using the specified calculation method.
