Redwood: Enable Automatic Bidding in Auctions
Automatic bidding functionality is now available in Redwood for suppliers. Suppliers can enable automatic bidding when responding to auctions. Automatic bidding is also known as proxy bidding in the classic Oracle Sourcing application. With this feature, the application submits a revised bid automatically when a competing bid exceeds the supplier's current offer.
To enable automatic bidding, the supplier needs to set two controls in their response:
Automatic Price Decrement: The automatic price decrement (known as proxy decrement in the classic Sourcing application) represents the value by which the application will automatically reduce the price when any competing bid surpasses the supplier’s current bid. This value may be defined either as a fixed amount or as a percentage. Depending on the auction setup, the decrement value may be applied uniformly across all line items or configured individually per line, provided that the category manager has enabled line-level price decrement functionality.
Limit Price: The limit price (known as proxy minimum in the classic Sourcing application) is set at a line level that serves as the minimum bid threshold price at which the application will stop automatic bidding activity on your behalf. If there is an incoming competing bid below this limit for a line item, then no further bids are submitted on the supplier's behalf.
These parameters govern how the application manages suppliers' bidding strategy to help them remain competitive while maintaining control over bid limits. A banner message is displayed when an automatic bid is submitted by the system.
Automatic bidding may be enabled for one or more line items during response creation. The indicators on the monitor page help suppliers spot these lines. Once activated, supplier users are restricted from manually revising the line-level pricing after the response has been submitted.
Automatic bidding can be canceled by suppliers at several points in the process:
- During response revision
- While monitoring auctions
- View Response page

With automatic bidding, suppliers can compete effectively in real time with ease and efficiency, without having to manually intervene every time they are outbid.
Steps to Enable
Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.
Offering: Procurement
To use this feature, you must opt in to the Update 25A feature, Redwood: Enable the New Supplier Portal Home Page Experience in Oracle Supplier Portal functional area. If already opted in, then this feature is automatically enabled.
You may refer to the What's New for the detailed instructions on Steps to Enable.
Also, Proxy should be enabled in the Negotiation Style to enable automatic bidding. If automatic price decrement needs to be enabled at line level, then line level price decrement should also be enabled.
