Redwood: Assess Material Availability for Work Order Prioritization
Between material requirement planning and work order release for production execution, manufacturers typically confirm that the required materials are available and allocated to work orders. To reduce production delays caused by shortages, they need a systematic and flexible way to prioritize scarce materials to work orders.
You can now assess and allocate available materials to prioritize work orders for production release and execution using the Redwood user experience.
Using the Material Availability UI, you can:
- Configure Material Availability Rules: Identify the sorting rules for prioritizing work orders. You can also specify inclusion criteria to define the scope of work orders and exclusion criteria for non-critical materials and work orders with materials that cannot be unallocated.
- Review and Prioritize Work Orders: View a prioritized list of work orders after running a scheduled process to calculate the availability of critical materials based on the configuration rules. You can assess material availability as full, partial, or unavailable for each work order, factoring in recommended substitutes.
- Manage Material Shortages: Identify short or unavailable materials and the impacted work orders, and review expected supplies from all inventory sources.
- Adjust Material Assignments: Easily reassign material allocations across work orders, considering the configuration rules for enforcing critical materials to remain assigned. You can also exclude non-critical materials from availability calculations.
- Release or Hold Work Orders: Release work orders with all critical materials assigned and hold or delay work orders with outstanding shortages.

Tips And Considerations
- The two ADF tasks of ADF UI 'Material Availability Rules' and 'Material Availability Assignments' have been replaced in Redwood UI with one task 'Material Availability'. 'Configuration' and 'Assignments' are two tabs in the same UI.
- Priority sequence in Configuration is automatically generated by the application. You can 'Change Sequence' to edit the order.
- For a consistent user experience with work order management, you can also enable these Redwood pages:
