Ground Service

This page is accessed via Operational Planning > Schedule Management > Ground Service. This page enables you to create a ground service which can be used to create repetitive rail/truck schedules that can be used to build shipments.

To assign a ground service beyond the order time window, you may want to extend the time window using the parameter "NUM OF DAYS ADDED TO LD FOR SEARCH SCHEDULE".

The Buy Shipment agent action Assign Next Repetition Schedule finds the next available schedule for a ground service shipment, adjusts the shipment times accordingly and re-drives downstream shipments.

Creating a Ground Service

Note: if you also use Cutoff and Recover Time, this cutoff will override that one.

  1. Enter a Ground Service ID.
  2. The Schedule Type defaults to Ground Service and cannot be changed here. To create a ground schedule with a service type of Static or Dynamic, go to Ground Schedule.
  3. Identify the days of the week for which the schedule applies under Frequency.
  4. The Service Provider field identifies the carrier that provides the transportation for this schedule. Oracle Transportation Management uses your entry to match ground schedules with appropriate rates.
  5. Define a Repetition Schedule Service that will be used to associate the Ground Service with a Rate Service.
  6. The Effective Date controls when this schedule is active and the Expiration Date acts as an end date for the schedule.
  7. The Schedule Number and Schedule Note fields can be used to provide additional information about a schedule.
  8. You can enter a Schedule Cutoff Time to indicate how far in advance a delivery must arrive before departure. For example, you may specify that goods must arrive 30 minutes early or may be delayed til the next trip.

Use the Stops section of the page to identify pickup and delivery stops for the ground service.
