4 AI Enrichment Using the Annotation Command

The annotation command enables you to add, manage, and generate metadata annotations for database objects directly in SQLcl.

Annotations are additional metadata that describe objects in your schema. A common example is a DESCRIPTION annotation on a table or column. These descriptions make a schema easier to understand, document, search, and use with AI workflows or large language models (LLMs). The command supports both manually created annotations and LLM-assisted annotations.

For complete syntax and options for the annotation command and its subcommands, see ANNOTATION in the SQLcl Command Reference.
