Understanding M&V Calculation Rules

M&V calculation rules are rules that perform M&V calculations and create M&V transactions, which which capture the results of the regression analysis and calculations preformed on those results (see About  M&V Transactions). M&V calculation rules are created for a specific M&V calculation group. For example, if you were configuring two M&V calculation groups and both included a specific M&V calculation rule, you would need to create two instances of the M&V calculation rule, one for each group.

The base package includes the following calculation rule business objects used with M&V calculations:

M&V Calculation Rule Description
Vector and Service Quantity Math (D2-Math) This rule is designed to facilitate configuration of complex vector calculations. It is based on a series of underlying services with vectors configured as input to the calculations.

System Data

M&V calculation rules are based on the following system data:

Maintenance Object Usage Rule (D1-USGRULE)
Business Object(s)

Vector and Service Quantity Math (D2-Math)

Generic Usage Calculation Rule (D1-GenericUsageRule)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria are user-definable conditions that could cause a rule to be applied or skipped. This can involve the evaluation of some attribute of the M&V subscription or metered service point, or something else entirely. A rule can have multiple eligibility criteria for determining if the rule should be applied or skipped, based on a user-defined sequence.

Eligibility criteria are based on the following system data:
