About Room Rotation

Prerequisites for Room Rotation

Room Rotation ensures a balanced assignment of inventory and component suite rooms to reservations based on the room rotation point setup. Rotation points may be accrued per stay, per night, or per amount of revenue generated based on transaction codes selected in Configuring Rotation Revenue Transaction Codes.

Rooms eligible for ownership are identified by the Owner Room check box in room configuration. Profile ownership record details track individual room ownership and any authorized guests (owner referrals). For more information, see Managing Profile Ownership Records and Owner Referrals. You can view all room ownership details using Viewing Room Owners. To create an owner or owner referral reservation use the Owner Rooms list field in Look to Book search after selecting the owner or owner referral profile. Owned rooms can also be filtered in Room Diary.

When the Owner Room Grade OPERA Control is active you must also configure Owner Room Grades and select an Owner Room Grade value for each owner room . Owner Room Grade is used to determine the display sequence of rooms based on the value selected in the Room Order Preference for Owner Rooms OPERA Control. The Room Order Preference for Owner Rooms OPERA Control works in conjunction with the Room Display Order OPERA Control to determine if owner rooms should display before or after non-owner rooms when searching for multiple room types in room assignment.

When the Component Room Rotation Points OPERA Control is active, rotation points are calculated for all component rooms when the component suite accrues rotation points. Additionally, rotation points are added to the component suite when rotation points are accrued for the component rooms comprising the component suite.  

When the Forecast Rotation Points OPERA Control is inactive, only past reservations (and Out of Order / Out of Service days) are considered in the rotation points calculation, used to determine the order in which rooms are available for assignment in Room Assignment. When the Forecast Rotation Points OPERA Control is active, future reservations within the rotation period (or until a fixed length number of days past the period end date defined by the Number of Days to Forecast OPERA Control ) are also considered in this calculation. 

Rotation adjustment reasons are required to identify why rotation points are adjusted for checked out reservation. For more information, see Managing Reservation Rotation Points.

Rotation override reasons are required during room assignment, when the room selected for a reservation is not the next room in the rotation sequence.

Room Rotation cannot be used in conjunction with AI Room Assignment.

For properties migrating from OPERA Property v5 with existing room rotation configuration, room rotation configuration must be configured natively in OPERA Cloud.
