Unlock a question, form, or visit for a subject

Sponsor users can unlock questions, forms, and visits that have been previously locked. This allows users to modify subject data again.

To performs this task, you must be assigned with the Lock Subject Data Entered at a Site permission.

Note:

If any data is frozen, the data remains read-only. Site users cannot add or update data unless the forms and questions are both unfrozen and unlocked. See Freeze and unfreeze data.
  1. On the Home page, Access your study in a specific mode.
  2. Along the top, make sure Subjects is selected, and that you're on the Subject Overview view.
  3. Locate a subject on the subjects list and select a visit in the Previous Visits column.

    Tip:

    You can use filters to narrow down your subjects list. For step-by-step instructions, see Filter subjects in a study.
  4. While in the visit, from the Lock Data drop-down, select Unlock.
  5. Choose one of the following:
    • To unlock a specific question, select the checkbox next to the question.
    • To unlock a specific form, select the checkbox next to the form name on the Forms sidebar to the left.
    • To unlock the entire visit, select the checkbox next to Forms on the Forms sidebar to the left.
  6. In the Unlock Data dialog, choose an option from the Reason for Change drop-down, then select Unlock.
    The unlocked iconUnlocked appears next to the question, and on the visit tile if the whole visit was locked and is now unlocked.
  7. Select Save & Close.
