5.30.1 Introduction

The A_PlacerOrder (universal) CMET represents information about an order placed by a certified practitioner for any Laboratory observations. This is the entry point for Laboratory Observation Orders called Placer Orders. This represents a standard high-level structure for inclusion of information in communications intended to support specific requests for service within a healthcare setting. These services include administrative as well as clinical business functions.

This CMET is referenced from within the Result Event RMIM. This CMET specification has details about the patient and the specimen along with the the author and verifier who has placed the order. The information about the reasons for requesting this order is also mentioned in this model.
