4.11.1 Introduction

The Encounter Appointment RMIM represents the notification of a scheduled appointment for an inpatient or ambulatory visit between a patient and care provider(s) for the purpose of providing healthcare related service(s).

These include, for example, clinical tests in advance of surgery or a procedure, such as an MRI, scheduled during an inpatient hospital stay. The Encounter Appointment Act includes all the attributes for the encounter. Those attributes that are not part of the Encounter Act are handled via Act Relationships to administrative observations. The Encounter Appointment has a required patient participation and several optional staff member participations.
