Attaching Cables to the Server
Use this procedure to attach cables to the server.
Cable the Server
Connect external cables to the server in the following order. Refer to Sun Fire X4170 M2 Server Back Panel Connectors
and Sun Fire X4270 M2 Server Back Panel Connectors.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the Gigabit Ethernet (NET) connectors as needed for OS
- If you plan to interact with the system console directly, connect any external
devices, such as mouse and keyboard to the server’s USB connectors  and/or
a monitor to the HD15 video connector .
- If you plan to connect to Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (Oracle ILOM)
software over the network, connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port labeled
NET MGT .

- If you plan to access the Oracle ILOM command-line interface (CLI) using the
serial management port, connect a serial null modem cable to the RJ-45 serial port
labeled SER MGT .
