About SASL

The Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) is a framework that provides authentication and optional security services to network protocols. An application calls the SASL library, /usr/lib/libsasl2.so, which provides a glue layer between the application and the various SASL mechanisms. The mechanisms are used in the authentication process and to provide optional security services. Oracle Solaris provides open source Cyrus SASL with a few changes.

For the Cyrus SASL version number, type the pkg info libsasl2 command in a terminal window. The version is in the Version: field.
