Verify Configuration for Remote ALOM-based SPARC Solaris System

  1. Identify the name and/or IP address of the ALOM-based SPARC Solaris server that you want to test.
  2. Log in to the ALOM CMT command shell on that remote system via an Ethernet or serial connection.
  3. Enter the following command to determine the current state of the system locator LED.
    sc> showlocator

    ALOM returns one of the following messages:

    Locator led is ON
    Locator led is OFF

    Note -  The following example assumes that the Locator LED is currently Off.
  4. Enter the following command to turn On the Locator LED.
    sc> setlocator on
  5. In the message or event console of your management package, verify that the event from ALOM indicating is received and the Locator LED is On.
  6. Enter the following command to turn Off the Locator LED.
    sc> setlocator off
  7. Optionally, in the message or event console of your management package, verify that the event from ALOM is received and the Locator LED is Off.
