Installing the Unbundled Host Drivers

Unbundled host drivers are released as separate packages (RPMs) that you must download and install separately after completely installing the underlying host OS. However, Oracle Virtual Networking host drivers are also embedded in various Oracle OSes. You can determine whether the host drivers are embedded or not by the kernel version of each host OS. For more information, see Kernel Upgrade Method.

Note -  By upgrading a kernel, it is possible to change from an unbundled host driver to an embedded host driver. See Behavior of Unbundled and Embedded Host Drivers.
