Route Cables

  1. Identify the prerequisite and subsequent installation tasks that you must perform in conjunction with this procedure.

    See Installation Task Overview.

  2. At the remote hosts, begin attaching the data cables to the appropriate connectors.
  3. Route and bundle the data cables to and through the rack, following the appropriate cautions and guidelines.

    See Data Cable Cautions and Data Cable Guidelines.

  4. Bring the data cables to the location in the rack where the switch will install.
  5. Connect the management cables to the appropriate ports of the patch panel or serial device.
  6. Route the management cables to and through the rack, bundling them with the data cables, if convenient to do so.
  7. Bring the management cables to the location in the rack where the switch will install.
  8. Ensure that line power is off at the rack.

    Note - If this is not possible, go to Step 10.


  9. Insert the switch power cord plugs into the line power receptacles.
  10. Route the power cords through the rack, bundling them if necessary.
  11. Bring the power cords to the location in the rack where the switch will install.
  12. Consider your next step.
