The program description deals with the following:
Update basic data ASCII converting, i.e. programming, change or clearing, is possible with this program. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed for information.
All data records to be used for ASCII communication are grouped together with this program. Additional parameters define the entry and print formats of the data records to be converted.
Note:
The following documentation must be available when
changes or adjustments are to be made to the data record description:
The restrictions associated with converting should also be borne in mind.
Click onto the graphics for further help with programming the Ascii communication.
The following description deals with all available options for update of this basic data.
As with nearly all programs the following also applies here
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 99
Enter the number of the group under which the data records for ASCII communication are to be compiled.
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.
When a new group is programmed, the name should be entered in this field. The name can be entered as required, but must provide information on the type of data record, e.g. MICROS Retail OSCAR POS standard, hospitality, self-service, etc..
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999
Enter the maximum message length, i.e. 512 bytes. The transfer protocol and the characteristics of the partner system define whether it is necessary or sensible to use a shorter message length.
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999
Enter the maximum record length in this field.
Switch active: Data is converted as per EBCDIC.
Switch deactivated: Data transfer is done in ASCII format.
Switch active: Each data record is finalised with carriage return and line feed .
Switch deactivated: Each data record is finalised with line feed.
This setting is particularly important for import and export of data onto external data media.
Switch active: Positive and negative acknowledgement during data transfer.
Switch deactivated: No acknowledgement during data transfer.
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999
Enter the number of the error class.
Field with firmly defined selection options
Select one of the offered check methods. Checks are carried out on import of ASCII data or read-in of ASCII data via the ASCII COM interface. If an error is discovered during the check the data record concerned will not be stored in the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS database. Error messages are shown in file ..\work\errlog.
The system provides the following check options:
