Vensafe

The program description deals with the following:

Remarks on program function

The data for connection of a Vensafe dispenser can be updated, i.e. created, changed or deleted, with this program. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed.

The interface of type IP address and the link to a processing unit must be defined and the device-specific operating mode of the Vensafe dispenser set.

Note:
Vensafe is a dispensing sales system for cigarettes and other products which are easy to steal. The dispenser is connected to the system via a network and it releases the products after the customer has purchased a product card at the terminal.

The product card is scanned at the terminal. The bar code type identifies the card as a Vensafe item and a sales query is sent via the network to the dispenser. If this is successful the dispenser returns a valid EAN to the terminal and activates the product card in the dispenser. The customer can then insert the card into the dispenser and the goods are ejected.

The following prerequisites must be complied with for the sale of Vensafe items:

·        A device, type Vensafe must be configured (System -> Configuration -> Device -> Misc. -> Vensafe)

·        The interface type IP address must be set up and linked (System -> Configuration -> Interface type)
The IP address and the port no. must be entered in field Device name (e.g. 10.220.40.207:8121)

·        Items with the appropriate EANs must have been programmed. The item table for conversion of dispenser items into terminal items with valid EAN is done in the Vensafe dispenser.

·        The EAN Parameter for the Barcodes of the Vensafe product cards must be updated in program Branch (e.g. ID 99 for EAN 128 and ID 25 for EAN 13).
