Remarks on the Program Function

The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application allows you to increase the number of the item preset keys on your keyboard up to four times without having to increase the number of the physical keys.

This can be done as follows:

A general description of the procedure and the interaction of the involved programs can be found in the chapter Item Preset Keys – Keyboard Tables and Input Levels.

This booking function requires that your terminal keyboard includes the Shift key and item preset keys. Both key types can be configured via Keyboard -> Keys.

Keyboard tables have to be assigned to a terminal type. Go to Parameters -> Misc. Params -> Terminal Type. Select the terminal type to which the table is to be assigned. Only one table can be assigned to each terminal type. Click on the button next to the field Item Table No. in the window Terminal Type to open the window Keyboard Table.

A keyboard table generally consists of two parts: the formal data and the concrete positions (=items) that are embedded in it.

In a first step, only the keyboard "frame" is created via the program Keyboard Table, i.e. you assign (when creating a new record) a table number and name. The actual entries, the items to be embedded, are still missing, though. The embedding of these items is carried out via the sub-window Table which you open via the appropriate button.

Note:
