Form Texts
The
following program description deals with:
By
use of this program, you can maintain the form texts. These are report names
and special fields for selection buttons. Field descriptions, however, are to
be maintained via the program Database Texts. (An
example of the status line maintenance can be found in the chapter Maintenance of the Receipt Foot Status Line.)
Form
texts basically consist of the table name, the attribute and the description.
The table name and the attribute make the database text unique: Branch_MaxGuestNo (Maximum Number of Guests in Branch) exists only once within the entire MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
application.
Attention!
- Do not make changes in this program. All
necessary forms have been stored in the system. Changes can have the
effect that the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application cannot access some of its parts.
- Changes will only be effective after an oscar init UiText
and an oscar
<file name>.fgl <Language>.
Example:
oscar Branch.fgl Germany (Changes in "Branch")
Only the server database will be considered in this
context. (in work.srv).
Possible client databases (e.g. work1.srv,
work2.srv etc.) will not be
updated, they have to be deleted. Client databases will be newly created
automatically with the next start. This procedure might take some time,
depending of the performance of the computer and the amount of data.
Text Search
- You can view the data records with frame names
and field names by clicking on the Search button (magnifying glass). Due
to the amount of data, this process might take some time, though. You can
accelerate the search by at least predefining the Language before starting the
search. The fastest way is to enter the language, frame and field name
directly.
This
paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating
these basic data
Just
like in almost any other program:
- The input mask may
be different in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the
application. In some cases some data fields may
be missing.
- Some input fields may contain default values or
defined selection options; these cannot be updated.
- The input mask contains some fields that require
an entry and others in which entries are optional.
- If the data record is updated via multi-page
input masks, go to the dialog window by
clicking on the appropriate buttons with <Mouse key 1>.
- The same procedure applies to call up another
update program from this program.
- In some cases you may find that so-called
"Switches" which - depending on the default - can be activated
or deactivated with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches are identified
by their dark color, deactivated switches are lighter-colored.
Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 99
In
this field, you define the language.
You
can assign a language (which must have been configured in the system) by
entering the number. If you do not know the number, you can also select the
data record via the Search Function.
If
the language you are looking for is not displayed, check if
- this language has been configured in the system
at all
- if the command oscar dofgl.fgl <Language>
has been executed for this language.
Note:
- When searching for frame and field names, please
note the notes in the chapter Text Search.
Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 20 chars.
Via
this field, you can define in which area ("frame") the form is
deployed (e.g. Sales
in the terminal program). The frame names cannot be maintained, all frame names
to be assigned are already stored in the system. Select the related frame name
by use of the search function. This process might take some minutes. If you
know the name, you can also enter it manually.
Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 20 chars.
By
an entry in this field, you define the field name. Field names are linked to
the frame names. By selecting the frame name, the available field names are
displayed. Make an appropriate selection.
Other
programs access this field entry, too (e.g. Transaction
Types).
Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 32 chars.
The
translation will be displayed along with the frame name, too, i.e. you can
select the required translation from the selection window. These texts are e.g.
texts which are printed on the receipt.
