MICROS Retail OSCAR POS and the MDR
You
can allow MICROS Retail OSCAR POS to communicate with an MDR (Mobile Data Recording), which would make a part of the
stock administration much more comfortable. It is possible to e.g. scan items
for the order and transfer the read-in data directly to the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
application. The following description will point out the general Functionality and the basic Procedure. The MDR
Applications included in MICROS Retail OSCAR POS will be described in short.
Notes:
- Further help can be found in the user manual
"MICROS Retail OSCAR POS - MDR, parts 1 und 2) (APN 95201.097-0000).
- In addition, you can naturally use the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
help (F1 key or menu).
Three
software packages are required to establish the communication between MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
and the MDR:
- MDR Software
The precondition for working with the MDR is that the MDR software is loaded. Only this software
allows the inventory, the goods receipt and shipping, the order and the
price control. A detailed description of how to load the MDR software can
be found in the documentation Load MDR
Software.
- Communication PC <-> MDR
The data exchange between the computer
and the MDR takes place physically via an RS 232
connection. On the computer’s side, the program "CoX32" sends and receives the data to/from
the MDR. CoX32 is located in a stack until the MDR asks for a transfer.
CoX32 is stored in the directory ../work and can be started automatically
with the computer start via the parameter -s. Subsequently it is
operational.
- Down- and Upload Module in MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
In the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application, you
decide via entries in various menus about which functions are to be
possible for the MDR, which data is to be transferred from MICROS Retail OSCAR POS to
the MDR (download) and which data is to be transferred from the MDR to MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
(upload). The logical data exchange with MICROS Retail OSCAR POS takes place via
download and upload files that are generated in the directory ../work. The
files have unique name keys and can be assigned to precisely one MDR
device each.
- MICROS Retail OSCAR POS generates the required data.
- The MDR device takes over and
- processes the data.
- Subsequently, the data is read in
- and transferred to MICROS Retail OSCAR POS.
The MDR Functions (Download and Upload Modules in MICROS Retail OSCAR POS)
Before
a function can be carried out by the MDR, it must have been configured in the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
application. For example, if you would like to take inventory via the MDR, you
have to configure the inventory for the MDR first. Only the entries in the
windows enable the provision with the data for the MDR and the data transfer
from the MDR.
The
user has to be authorized to work with the MDR. The administration of the
authorized MDR users is to be carried out in this window.
Note:
- Since there is only one user file for all MDR
devices, the branches cannot be administered separately.
Define
the data to be sent to the MDR and those to be received from the MDR in this
window.
Via
this window, the open orders are determined and the received deliveries are
transferred to MICROS Retail OSCAR POS.
Outgoing
goods mean a stock quantity reduction that is not derived from sales, e.g.
returns to a supplier or deliveries to a different branch (stock movements).
Note:
- Only items that are configured as Stock Items can be outgoing
goods.
In
this window, you define the item areas that are to be collected by the MDR for
an order. Items that are not included in this area cannot be ordered via the
MDR. Example: You select shelf 1 - 2. The attempt to order an item from shelf 3
would be rejected.
Note:
- Only the items that are assigned to a Supplier will be considered.
- Define the item areas of which the price changes
are to be collected by the MDR.
