Chapter 86: Holding Orders by Zip Code (HZIP)

Purpose: Use this menu option to put orders within certain zip codes on hold, or to generate a report of open orders within certain zip codes. Optionally, you can restrict the results to orders that use a certain shipping method.

Open orders only: This report includes open orders only within the selected zip codes and ship via. Suspended orders, and order that are already held, are not included.

Note: Orders with printed pick slips are eligible to be selected for the report and put on hold, if you specify a hold reason code at this screen; however, the system does not prevent any pick slips for these orders from shipping and billing.

Field

Description

Postal codes (Select zips to hold)

Enter up to ten five-position zip code(s) to include on the report and, optionally, put on hold. Each currently open order whose shipping address includes a specified zip code is included. Orders that are already in held status are not included. In the case of a multi-recipient order, the entire order is put on hold, although only the selected ship-to is listed on the report.

Postal code longer than five positions? If the zip code is longer than five positions, enter just the first five positions in order to select orders shipping to this zip code.

Note: The entry fields are case-sensitive.

Alphanumeric, 5 positions; required.

Order hold reason (Hold orders with user reason)

Optionally, enter the hold reason code to assign to selected orders. Your entry must be a valid hold reason code, as set up through Establishing Order Hold Reason Codes (WOHR).

Orders already on hold? Orders that are already on hold with another hold reason code are not updated. In the case of a multi-recipient order that already has at least one of the shipping addresses on hold, the order is not included on the report or updated; however, the system does not generate pick slips for any of the recipients if one of the recipients is already held.

Orders with pick slips printed? Open orders are selected for the report and updated with the hold reason code based on the zip code and, optionally, ship via code, regardless of whether pick slips are already printed. If an order is selected but already has pick slips printed, the system does not prevent the pick slips from shipping and billing.

Alphanumeric, 2 positions; optional.

Ship via code (and ship via code)

Optionally, enter a ship via code to restrict report selections and updates to orders that are using this shipping method. In the case of multi-recipient orders, the order is selected if the shipping address that matches a zip code also uses the specified ship via code.

Your entry must be a valid ship via code, as set up through Working with Ship Via Codes (WVIA).

Numeric, 2 positions; optional.

1. Enter at least one postal code and, optionally, an order hold reason and ship via code. See the field descriptions above for more information.
