Guided Access mode is a fast and easy way to put an iPad in kiosk mode. Guided Access mode is intended for school settings, which is why it is categorized as a Learning feature in iOS. In Guided Access mode you temporarily lock an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch to a single app. The in store sales associate would need to enter your PIN or provide your fingerprint to leave Guided Access mode.
Follow these steps to set up Guided Access mode:
On the iOS device, open Settings and click General > Accessibility > Guided Access. Enable the Guided Access slider.
Touch Passcode Settings to set a PIN and choose if the store sales associate can exit Guided Access with Touch ID, if your iPad has a Touch ID sensor. You can use the same PIN you use to unlock the iPad or use a different one.
Next, launch the Assisted Selling Cloud app and quickly press the Home button three times in a row. The Guided Access screen displays and you can use the options here to configure it. By default, the touch screen is enabled and the Sleep/Wake button is disabled. However, you can disable the touch screen and allow users to use the Sleep/Wake button, depending on your organization’s needs.
Touch Start in the top-right corner of your screen. While in Guided Access mode, the iPad’s screen will not turn off. It will remain on and unlocked for anyone to use it. You may want to plug the iPad in if you intend on leaving it on. If you enabled the Sleep/Wake button on the Guided Access screen, any user can turn off and on the device. Once the user turns the device on, the Oracle Assisted Selling app will open in Guided Access mode without the user needing to enter a PIN.
