Any record store can be used to hold either product data or dimension values, but never both. Thus, when you create record stores, be sure to give them names that clearly specify the type of content -- product data or dimension values -- that you will be loading into them.
You can create and configure record stores as your application requires. Oracle recommends that you create a separate product data store for each source of external product data that you use, and a separate dimension value record store for each source of dimension values. You must specify the record stores that you are using when you run a record store merger. For more information, see Running a record store merger.
