Specify Limit Values for Filter Groups (Preview)
Configure the Limit Values setting for filters within a filter group in a workbook to specify how the individual filters get their selection values.
You can configure the Limit Values settings for each individual filter within a filter group. You can’t configure Limit Values settings for a filter group as a whole.

When you’re configuring the Limit Values settings for individual filters within a filter group, refer to Specify Limit Values for Workbook and Canvas Filters and Specify Limit Values for Visualization Filters in conjunction with the following information.
AND, the Limit Values settings for each filter function as follows:
- Default: Functions the same as for workbook, canvas, or visualization filters, depending on the location of the filter group.
- Auto: The filter is limited by the other filters in the filter group that are higher on a drill path. In a filter group, the drill path is based on the order the filters are listed in. The filter is also limited by filters outside the filter group.
- None: The filter isn’t limited by other filters in the filter group but it is limited by filters outside the filter group.
- Custom: The list of filters available to choose from is limited to the other filters within the filter group.
If the operator in the filter group is OR, you can’t configure the limit values setting for any filters in the filter group. In this scenario, the limit values behavior is equivalent to the None option.
- On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, then select Open.
- Click the filter group, to open it. Then click an individual filter to open the Filter dialog.
- Click Limit Values
and click an option to select it. - Click Save.
