Handling Order Fulfillment Issues
Simultaneous processing that involves the same records may cause delays, slowness, or timeouts when creating or updating item fulfillments. These issues may occur for the following scenarios in particular:
-
Bulk or multiple orders that include similar items, like a promotional item
-
Single fulfillments that contain a large quantity of lot or serial numbers for the same item
NetSuite updates inventory balances for each fulfillment line to prevent item commitment or availability issues due to quantity mismatches. However, bulk updates that are done for the same item record may take a longer time to complete. When fulfilling multiple orders or similar items at the same time, slowness, timeouts, or delays in processing could be avoided through the following ways:
-
Group together sales orders or transfer orders that contain different items or process those with similar items in smaller batches.
-
Don't process a huge volume of orders for the same items or lot numbers at the same time.
-
Don't create single orders with large quantities of serial numbers or lot numbers for the same item.
-
If you use NetSuite WMS, create separate waves for transfer orders and sales orders that you want to process in bulk. Don't combine transfer orders and sales orders in the same wave, especially if they contain the same items or lots. Creating Wave Transactions.
