Labor Costs and Revenue Report

The Labor Costs and Revenue Report shows configurable labor cost insights based on payroll data, and compares this to revenue data. This enables finance leaders to analyze workforce efficiency and revenue alignment. This analysis can be viewed by period, subsidiary, department, location, and other segments. This report also allows you to generate AI summaries of the data.

Note:

This report requires SuitePeople U.S. Payroll.

Access to this report is available to any role that has access to both financials and payroll, such as CFO. To make this report available to custom roles, add the Labor Costs permission at Full.

This report is based on up to two years of paycheck data, if available.

Before using this report, you can define which payroll components should be included in labor cost calculations.

To configure the report:

  1. Go to Setup > Accounting > Labor Costs Setup.

  2. On the Labor Costs Setup page, check or clear the box beside each of the payroll components you want to include. For more information on mappings, see Payroll Mappings to Labor Cost Categories.

  3. When finished, click Save.

To view the report:

  1. Go to Reports > Financial > Labor Costs and Revenue.

  2. On the Labor Costs and Revenue Report page, customize your view in the following ways:

    • Select a date range, specifically the relevant reporting periods you have defined for your company.

    • Use the Column list to filter by class, department, and other segments, and by accounting periods such as quarter or year.

    • Use the Account any of list to select the income accounts to include in the report. These are the accounts you have defined in your company setup.

    • By default, this report shows just data from regularly scheduled payroll runs. To include other types of runs or adjustments, check the Include off-cycle runs and payroll reversals and adjustments box.

When you click Generate Insight, you see AI insights, with headings Executive Summary, Key Metrics, Key Drivers, and Key Takeaways for Leadership.
