Investigating Data with Drill Options

You can investigate data within Planning and Budgeting Financials by drilling into the Account Details and drilling through to the underlying NetSuite data.

You can access two drill options throughout the Planning and Budgeting application to investigate Accounts at detail level:

Drilling to Account Details

Forms display aggregated data in the context of the Point of View, but sometimes you may want to drill into the Account at a more detailed level. The Drill To option shows more information about the selected Account.

Note:

This option is available on forms that have the Drill To option on the context menu when you right-click an Account. The Drill To option differs by form. For example, it could be Drill to Account Details, Drill to Income Statement Details, Drill to Actual Inc Stmt Details, etc.

To drill to Account Details:

  1. From the Home page, click the relevant card.

  2. Click the relevant tab on the left-hand side, and then click the relevant form at the bottom of the page.

  3. Select the Dimension Members you want to view in the Point of View, and then click the Go icon Go icon.

  4. Locate and right-click the Account you want to review, and then select Drill to Account Details (or some variation of this action).

The Account Details form opens in a new tab within the application. This form displays the Actual and Forecasted Account details for the selected Account.

  5. From the Account Details form, you can drill back to your NetSuite general ledger entry. For details, see Drilling Through to NetSuite.

    Note:

You can only drill through to NetSuite from cells (data areas) in the Actual columns with the Drill Through icon Drill Through icon. The Drill Through option is not available on total rows.

  6. To return to the original form, click the form's name at the bottom of the page.

Drilling Through to NetSuite

The Drill Through option enables you to drill back into NetSuite to investigate transaction details. This option is only available at the detailed level of the Income Statement form.

The Drill Through option is accessed from Account Detail, and therefore, often requires drilling to the Account Details first. For instructions on how to drill to Account Detail levels, see Drilling to Account Details.

Note:

Ensure that you are signed in to the NetSuite account that you want to drill through to.

The option to drill through to NetSuite is also available when working in Smart View. Administrators must configure Smart View to drill through to NetSuite. For more information about Smart View, see the Smart View User Guide.

To drill through to NetSuite from a budget form:

  1. If you have not already, drill to the Account Detail level. For instructions, see Drilling to Account Details.

  2. Right-click a cell (data area) that has the Drill Through icon Drill Through icon icon and select Drill Through to source.

The Drill Through tab opens and shows amount details.

  3. To drill into NetSuite, click the Setting icon Setting icon next to the detail line and select Drill Through to Source.

A NetSuite saved search that is relevant to the form appears in a new tab in the context of the detail line that you are drilling into.

  4. To drill further into the NetSuite details, click View.

    The transaction details appear.

  5. Click Back to return to the saved search results.

  6. After you have completed your investigation, close the saved search browser tab, and then return to the Amount Details drill through window.

  7. To return to the original form, click the form's name at the bottom of the page.
