Permissions and Prerequisites
Your ability to use the apps depends on your NetSuite role's file and folder permissions.
An account administrator configures folder access in Allowed File Cabinet Access on the Custom Tools page. For allowed folders, the following minimum access levels apply:
|
File Operation |
Minimum Access Level |
|---|---|
|
Read an existing file |
View |
|
Upload a new file |
Create |
|
Replace an existing file |
Edit |
These access levels don't override your NetSuite role's permissions.
If the allowed-folder list is empty, the apps can't read, upload, or replace files. For setup instructions, see Configuring File Cabinet Access for Custom Tools.
Upload Requirements and Behavior
The following requirements and behavior apply to uploads through the File Cabinet Browser MCP App and Upload File MCP App:
-
Files keep their original names. If a file with the same name already exists in the destination folder, click Replace Existing File to confirm the replacement. To replace an existing file, the uploaded file must have the same file type as the existing file. Existing text files with a non-UTF-8 encoding can't be replaced.
-
When you specify a destination path, the Upload File MCP App can create missing subfolders when permitted. Browser uploads use the folder currently open in the app.
-
After an upload, the app shares saved file details and supported contents with your AI client. An upload can succeed even if its contents can't be shared or read.
The following table lists supported file extensions for uploads. Extension matching is case-insensitive. Text files must use UTF-8 encoding.
