Adding a Commerce Category
When you add categories using Site Management Tools (SMT), a category page is created. This page lists the products and subcategories assigned to the category. Similar to landing and enhanced pages, you can set the category page's name, heading, path, title, meta description, URL fragments, <head> content.
To add a category:
-
Log in to SMT. For details, see Logging into Site Management Tools.
-
Click the Overview Mode icon
on the site management toolbar. -
Click New Category. This displays the Category Settings in the side panel.
-
Select the General subtab.
-
Set the visibility dates for the category. Choose from Always Visible or Visible on Specific Dates. For details, see Visibility Dates for Categories.
Important:Unlike content and pages, Commerce Categories are always in a published state and are displayed to visitors based on the visibility options you specify for the category.
-
In the Name field, enter a name for the category. The name identifies the category in NetSuite and can also be used in category navigation.
-
The Heading field is automatically populated based on what is entered in the Name field, but you can change it. The heading is displayed at the top of the category page (if the page template file supports it).
-
The URL Fragment is the part of the web address that points to the category page. The full URL is your domain, any parent fragments, and the one you set here.
-
Select the Metadata subtab.
-
In the Title field, enter what you want to appear as the page title in the browser tab.
-
In the Meta Description field, enter a short summary of the page. This is important for your store and usually shows up in search results. The description is set as the value for the content attribute for the meta description element for this category page.
-
In the Meta Keywords field, add keywords (separated by commas) for this category page.
-
Select the Advanced subtab.
-
In the Add to <head> field, you can include HTML, CSS, or JavaScript to include between the <head> tags on the category page.
-
Click Save.
