Prerequisites for Installing Germany Localization

Before installing the Germany Localization SuiteApp, your account administrator must enable several features and preferences in your NetSuite account.

Required Features

To install Germany Localization SuiteApp and use Germany-specific functionality, you must enable required features.

To enable required features

  1. Go to Setup > Company > Setup Tasks > Enable Features.

  2. On the SuiteCloud subtab, check the following boxes:

    • Custom Records - Required to create custom records such as report templates and precalculated balances.

    • Advanced PDF/HTML Templates - Required to render templates and to generate PDF files.

    • Client SuiteScript - Required to enable client-side scripts for financial statements.

    • Server SuiteScript - Required to deliver bundles.

    • Accounting - Required to use NetSuite for your business accounting.

    • GL Audit Numbering - Required to apply gapless numbering sequences to all general ledger posting transactions.

    • Multi-language - Required to display UI elements and generated-file content in different languages.

    • SOAP Web Services – Required to enable programmatic access to your NetSuite data and business processes through an XML-based application programming interface (API).

  3. Go to Setup > Accounting > Preferences > Accounting Preferences.

  4. On the General subtab, check Use Account Numbers box. For more information, see Chart of Account Numbering.

  5. Go to Setup > Accounting > Manage G/L > Manage Accounting Periods.

  6. Click Set Up Full Year. For more information, see Accounting Period Setup.

  7. Click Save.

Note:

To complete the account setup, you should also enable the SuiteTax Plug-In and assign a tax registration to a subsidiary. However, this is not mandatory. If you don’t want to use the SuiteTax-related features of the Germany Localization SuiteApp, you can skip the following instruction.

Enabling the SuiteTax Plug-In permits you to select SuiteTax as your tax engine. You can enable the plug-in at Customization > Plug-Ins > Manage Plug-Ins. For more information, see Enabling the SuiteTax Plug–In.

To add a tax registration for a subsidiary

  1. Go to Setup > Company > Classifications > Subsidiaries.

  2. Click Edit next to the subsidiary.

  3. On the Tax Registrations subtab, select a country, nexus, and tax engine for this nexus.

  4. Enter a tax registration number.

  5. Click Save.

Mandatory SuiteApps

Before installing the Germany Localization SuiteApp, you must first install the EMEA Localization SuiteApp. This SuiteApp enables you to create SuiteTax-based tax reports for certain countries in the EMEA region. For more information, see Installing the EMEA Localization SuiteApp.

Tax Reporting Framework

This SuiteApp helps business meet the tax determination and reporting requirements. Necessary for generation of tax reports for Germany.

Country-Specific Reports

This SuiteApp serves as a framework supporting various localization SuiteApps. It is required to display different country-specific financial statements.

Electronic Bank Payments

This SuiteApp enables you to process bank payments of your vendor bills, employee expenses, partner and employee commissions, and customer refunds, and also enables you to receive bank payments from customers.
