Edit Mode Actions for Warranty Registrations
In edit mode, you can also do the following actions:
-
Void - You can void a registration by checking the Inactive box. You can edit an inactive record, but you can't use it to file a warranty claim.
If the registration comes from an invoice, it's removed from the Warranty Registration List subtab on the invoice. In the related invoice line, the warranty settings don't change.
-
Delete - You can delete a registration if it doesn't have any associated warranty claims. The same rule applies to serial items with multiple registrations linked to one invoice line. You can delete only the registration records without a claim.
In edit mode, go to Actions > Delete to remove a record. For role requirements on deleting a registration, see Configuring Roles and Permissions for Warranty and Repairs Management.
Note:Clicking Remove on the Related Records subtab only takes the claim off the list shown on the registration. The claim still stays linked to the registration, so you can't delete the registration. However, when you remove a claim, it can't be shown on the registration again.
If a registration comes from an invoice, you can't delete it while someone else is editing the invoice. When you delete the record, the Register Warranty box is automatically cleared in the related invoice line. However, the box isn't cleared if there are other registration records linked to that line item.
-
Copy - You can copy warranty details into a new registration. In view mode, on the Warranty Registration page, go to Actions > Make Copy. You'll see a manual registration form, no matter which registration mode you used.
When you copy a registration, keep these points in mind:
-
For autogenerated registrations, the invoice gets copied into the Reference Invoice field. If needed, the serial or lot number gets copied into the Reference Serial/Lot No. field.
-
If you've turned on the Auto Generate Registration No. preference, the Registration No. field is disabled and can't be edited when you're creating the record. For more information about this preference, see Setting Warranty Preferences.
-
The Manual Registration box gets automatically checked on the copied registration.
